Edit: I have since played Red Pearls of Borneo and it is spectacular. It has every right to stand alongside Obra Dinn, Roottrees, and other greats of this genre. I do not believe that the same person who created that incredible game would have made this game out of anything other than a love for the genre and a desire to tell great stories.

To the game's author: I'd like to apologize for jumping to conclusions. I am deeply wary of the usage of AI in artistic and creative endeavours and I allowed my wariness to bias me against what I'm sure is a delightful project. Please continue to share your art with the world.

I've left my original comment below intact to preserve the context of the comment section, but please know that I no longer agree with what I wrote.

Anyone enjoying this should just play Type Help instead

To say that this is "inspired" is laughable. You've fully stolen the primary gimmick of that game down to the naming convention of the files.

How shameless do you have to be to fully steal someone's game, sloppily rework it with AI, and then release it as if it's a new product?

If this is the future of indie gaming, the future is looking bleak.

Just asking out of pure curiosity. Could you tell me how the creator used AI to produce this game? And what features of the game were specifically plagiarised besides the game function. Though I do see similarities.

oh I can tell you that I 100% used AI to help me code it. It’s  not a secret, I marked that the code was AI-assisted in the information about the game.

I made this game just for fun after I played Type Help and wanted more. I was proud of what I made so I put it up on itch and didn’t expect anyone but me and my friends to play it but it turns out a lot of people ended up liking it!

But not GreedyRadish it seems. And that’s fine, everyone’s entitled to their opinion. No bad feelings.

Ah, I see. Is the script and the story also AI-generated? Just wondering.

just the code and initially it did have some “auto-completed” text as I was just making it quick but that was all cleaned up and rewritten when people started playing it.
