I don't have any insider knowledge or anything, and this is just a total wild guess, but Karim might be? He reads as possibly autistic and might have some aspects to his story that are relatable to the transmasc experience, since he seems to have discomfort taking off his helmet at the end of the demo.
If him being trans is not the case, my crack-theory is gonna be that he's some sort of slime monster and he holds together a shape he feels comfortable in with his outfit
