Quite a fun game, and definitely tickles my nostalgia, but when I beat the boss there was no amulet, only three(?) crowns. I searched the level thoroughly, until my sanity dropped and I turned into a rat, then when I left the dungeon it said I'd failed
My strategy was to go full magic, and take the throwing knives. There's plenty of ammo lying around to use as long as you have the skill, and going diagonally lets you retreat fairly easily, as enemies will generally only go in the cardinal directions. Also, if you find the boomerang it's infinite ammo, and if you use the long throw skill, missing does not make you lose it as the tooltip claims.
With thrown weapons as a good source of damage, I was able to invest entirely into magic, then appraise and analyse the scrolls. I was never once able to cast summon lesser beast or fireball, even with my learning skill, but ray of frost came in clutch.
I will say, clicking and dragging for equipping items had me stumped for a good while, until I read the description, as did pressing enter for using doors and ladders. I feel like it's more intuitive to use space for activating things, and clicking an empty equipment slot should allow you to select an item to put there. It might be good to add in the tooltips what slots an item can go in to, some of the items have this, like the dagger, but one of the hats I was very confused where to put it. Wings and tail slots are a bit confusing too.
I am greatly looking forward to the next version of this game, because it's very good, and with a little polish I could see it being incredible. It's got the beginnings of a roguelike I could see myself playing for hours, especially if there were like... classes, and different bosses and dungeons I could run through, maybe an overarching plot. I also think the campfire should restore your sanity a little, that's a pretty common trope
Oh, but... why the Adult tag? That's a little weird for a game like this, there is zero adult content that I found
