I may be a cisgender man but sometimes I like to play as a transwoman as a bit of escapism and is it just me or is playing a trans character a little empty? it doesn't feel like I'm playing a trans character it feels like I'm playing a male character with a female avatar poorly pasted over it now I don't know any trans people personally but from the content creators who I follow who are that isn't what it is shouldn't I at least be able to express my characters gender other then thigh-high socks? from what I heard they don't want to add anything because their afraid people will fetishized it (this could be a lie this is second hand knowledge) but like people will fetishize everything its one of our primal traits hardwired into our DNA refusing to add stuff because of this sounds like Cowardess or a excuse to be lazy plus does not showing the suffering the trans community have to go through kinda disrespect them? to dumb down the experience to a poorly made genital switch I don't know once again I'm a cisgender man (most likely) and I have no real voice in this fight but figured I should say my piece anyway thanks for reading my poorly written rant

Much love, Misery R Week

Personally, I like that they don't have any coded scenes where people react to you being trans. I personally don't find it disrespectful. Now, I wouldn't mind them adding those scenes IF (and it's a HUGE, unnegotiable if) they add an option to toggle them for those who aren't comfortable with transphobia.

Though, I'm not sure what you mean by "express my characters gender other then thigh-high socks"...

All in all, I think they did just fine with their transgender options :]

Good Morning/evening Mr Overlyactiveotter

Thank you for reading my stupid rant

to my knowledge there are like 3 whole clothing items that can have the trans pride flag applied to it and to my knowledge that's the most you can express yourself in game I guess I'm looking for something that will change up the gameplay loop I mean playing as a cismale and a transwoman have basically the exact same gameplay loop

I don't know just anything maybe being able to put up a pride flag in the dorm? HRT? a special event like trans visibility day?

but of course I shouldn't make a big deal out of this if your fine with it I guess its fine then

Ahh, I see. I do agree, honestly. Maybe having pins or hats with some of the flags would be a nice accessory to add? Or special one-day pride events? Though the events might also come with the pressure of adding more events for more communities, which would take quite a bit of time from their current priorities...

I would LOVE to have the option of HRT in the future, though! I know many others have asked for mid-game transitioning, and I really hope they add that feature eventually, maybe even with toggleable options to have NPCs react to your transition... Or a special "coming out" scene...

Hey there,

sorry if i'm overstepping here, but it might do you some good to spend some time questioning your gender identity.

take it from a trans woman, generally speaking, cis men do not feel the need to play female characters (especially trans women characters) to escape (from what, the pressure of having to be a man?), or then get that invested in it.

just my two pence, but if you're safe to do so/ can afford it, you might want to consider experimenting with makeup or 'feminine' clothes if those things at all apeal to you (not that liking either of those things is required to be a trans woman, or would necessarily make you one. plenty cis men wear makeup and skirts and dresses. the only thing required to be a trans woman is wanting to be one).

sorry for the unasked for advice, but i myself took way too long to figure my gender shit out, and really could have used that sort of advice once upon a time.

wish you the best, feel free to just ignore this.

i dont think wanting to play a trans women character in game=wanting to be a trans women irl just saying

(1 edit) (+6)(-2)

Thinking the same lol. I'm a trans guy, I know I'm a trans guy, but I still have multiple saves where I'm a cis woman, a nonbinary, one where I'm a trans woman...

I do understand where she's coming from, though! I did used to always play as a man in games where I had the option before realizing I was trans, and I do think that might have been an early sign...

Hello, I'm trans non-binary and I'm genuinely confused on what you find wrong about trans characters in this game. Refering to another one of your responses here, we don't always wear pride flags, it's not really a bother that there are so few items with them in the game. At least they're there and easily accessible! And what do you mean exactly by "shouldn't I at least be able to express my characters gender other then thigh-high socks"? Because you absolutely can, you have the freedom to wear whatever you want in this game without any gender norms pressure. Feels pretty trans friendly to me! And all the things you mention about the "suffering of the trans community", is it implying that you think there should be transphobia in this game? My life is enough of a nightmare just because of my trans identity, being able to be fully accepted as a regular human being in a game feels so good! Because we are regular people, so I don't really see how and why this game should treat us differently than cis characters.

HRT system isn't that bad of an idea, especially for mid-game transition, but the game is still in development, so it might not be a priority for now. Still could be cool tho! As for trans visibility day, I genuinely don't know. It seems like every holidays in this game is strict to its lore and comes with a special event, so I don't really know how that could be implemented. And it doesn't matter that much to me honestly, again, just the fact that we are treated like normal human beings is more than enough for me.

Even tho your wording feels a bit off sometimes, I can understand that maybe you mean that "a trans life will have unique details about it that a cis life won't have". Which is true honestly. But the game is still in development after all, so it's normal that it lacks some gender identity specific details. As long as I can play as my transition goal, be openly non-binary and never be discriminated against for it, that's all that matters to me at this moment.
