  • Incredible watercolors and a consistent aesthetic, but there's just not much game there--I feel your scores should go somewhere, contribute to a field campaign, get increasingly difficult, etc. Small bug: if the timer finishes when a fish is just appearing, it gets counted against your score. Somehow the arrow keys keep running even when the score page comes up as well.
  • This is a very cute and simple fun game! The watercolor like graphic is beautiful and effective. The design wise, if the boots are in the game play window, for example, placing a person wearing the boots in the game somewhere, it'd tie the title and the actual game more nicely. The game very was fun to play, but I wasn't sure about the consequence of missing fish and hitting wrong buttons and how to interpret the "error" number shown at the end. It's very Alaskan game!
  • Boots was very educational/science-oriented and had wonderful graphics. The game mechanics were very simple but well thought out. There were some issues with the counting and once the player has figured out a system to play would want something more to do, or increased challenge, or different fish to see.
  • The graphics for this game were really beautiful! The concept really brought me into the world of fish counting and how difficult it must be. The sound, graphics, and gameplay were great across the board. I still haven't become a very good counter yet, but I will continue to try to be better. Great job!
  • This game has the best graphics in my opinion, and took the most literal approch to the scientific theme. I love the story idea to focus on the boots of the researchers, and I can see how the second half of the game would have followed this theme as well. Great work.

This was a quaint little game. The art was really, really good, but I feel like some animations would've made the game much better and fleshed-out. The sound was great as far as I can tell, but there seems to be no real punishment for miscounting, so the player can just spam the arrow keys and stuff.

Thanks for playing ! I agree, making a few more animations and having a clearer success/failure mechanism could add a lot. We are excited to try and do more with it.

Wow! So your art is so wonderful.

I think you should consider a more significant consequence for miscounting fish or at least an alternate mode of play that adds that punishing element.

This actually reminds of me of many music games so far so I think leaning in that direction by having some sort of song play better the more fish you count correctly could be a good idea.

Looking forward to seeing where you take this!

Thank you!

Yes, we definitely want to take it in a more fleshed out direction. We focused primarily on getting the first mechanic down of counting fish.

I love the idea of leaning into the rhythm/music game!
