apparently if you stop just before the heart blow there is no damage, but the window is so small that is almos imposible, is more luck than ability
and here i thought i was lucky when i got the timing such that i only had to pause for ~0.3 second for a heart.
are you sure you didnt just have a "restore stamina when hit by heart" upgrade?
