That sounds like it could be related to how the Retro Virtual Machine handles AZERTY keyboards rather than the game itself, especially since it works fine on the C64 version.

I'll take a look on my side and see if I can reproduce it. In the meantime, if you have a chance to try with a different keyboard layout or emulator, that would help narrow it down.

I tried AceDL, Amspirit and Caprice Forever. With an azerty keyboard, M key is "dead". So this is a bug in the game engine. Ouch!
