That was fun! Nice skills with the bounce shot. Almost makes me want to go back and do some more work on the game, which I've taken a break from. We have a pile of additional changes in the repo that we haven't push out to itch yet. I hope we fixed that level transition bug you ran into.
In your playthrough, I assume you noticed the signal meter, which helps you find miners even before the detector upgrade. Returning to the dropship early for resupply, repairs, upgrades and to secure your rescues is also good strategy. Bombs are good for making shortcuts through the levels and carnage later on in the game, not just recuing trapped miners.
Good points about needing more pressure on the player and a bit more control over upgrade choice. My main take away from watching your vid is that we need to ramp up the progression a bit more rapidly, or make that an opt-in, and overall inject a bit more interest into the gameplay. There are more world types and some enemy types you didn't get to see. Lots of other stuff we could do with this game mechanically that we might revisit sometime.
