That was a great playthrough. The way you reached the end on your first try without ever reloading was awesome, and I'm happy you also managed to complete the game properly especially without ever finding the map.
I'm glad you enjoyed the puzzle part as combat on another hand would indeed have benefitted from more time to expand it. In case you wonder there are two other possible interactions between 1983 and 1985, you can kill the anaconda in 1983 and it won't appear in 1985, and there's a single piece of equipment to find in the future that you can then leave in 1983 where the young ones start so they're a bit stronger.
