My game is inaccessible via the Itch.io client

I have complained about this a few times throughout the year. Each time I haven't had proof. I was finally motivated to make a new account on a completely different machine, grab the app, and try it for myself.

The thing is, if you search for it on the site, the same thing happens, HOWEVER, on the site, if you press enter, it will actually perform a search. On the APP, it selects the first result it pulls up and goes to it.

This ui design is frustrating. The search in the app should behave the same as the site. That is expected behavior. Or, perhaps allow the search in the app to actually search everything.

Pardon any perceived rudeness. It comes from me reporting this several times and being more or less brushed off. As it's not general release or anything, it hasn't been a massive deal. However, when I have to put extra instructions that people have to use the url bar and paste in the address of the splinterfaction page, that's a bit much.

the search on the app is broken, does not show search results as on the web. My workaround is adding the games I want to play to a private collection on web, and accessing from 'Collection' tab in app.

Does not help with discoverability of your own games for sure :(

Do you actually search games you want to play by using the search box?

I am asking because that search box is literal title search. How can you search a thing you do not know yet by it's title?

I do - when I see sth interesting on twitter or Reddit :)

I prefer to use the app to play because I don’t have to download stuff - it is installed and can be launched from there :)

Oh, okay.

I do not really use the app. On a browser I would just click the link and would not need to search the game.

I suspect that the App intentionally disables literal title search. It is too easy to spam known popular words into your title and hope to get found by people looking for better known games. So the search box there only "searches" the most popular games. Search also can dispaly honest and dishonest fan games for a search term with few clues wich is which. (I did see an actual malware fake and an original side by side in search and I also saw the fake indexed, while the original was not.)

One might not be happy with the results of  https://itch.io/search?q=baldi as an example for the fan games and clutter that shares a name.
