*Luxorian's Crew* is the first Space Dragons novella. Author Veo Corva meshes their narrative masterfully with world-building. The core elements of the setting and the protagonist, the dragon Luxorian, are interwoven, and they integrate well with the story as well as the backstory, which is always present but only gradually revealed.
I loved the diversity of characters. Queerness, body types, chronic illness/disabilities are presented as facets, but never the main or only characteristic. And the figures all retain some mysteries which, storywise, works extremely well: Even as Luxorian begins to get used to them, uncertainties remain. This volatility never hurts the sense of direction and confidence that the book displays. It is an absolutely cozy read.
