Rule 4: You can submit an older project or start a new one.
Rule 6: Projects can be “works in progress” that are updated over time.
If the games are not allowed to be submitted to multiple jams aside your jam, please state it in the rules. To avoid spam you can also add a clause/question to fill in when submitting the entry for the jam. Additionally before considering the game is a spam, read description and devlog, both here state why I submitted this game to the jam and when it was last updated.
This game is in ongoing development since last year. All the jams I submitted to on my games’ pages allow old projects that are being updated, as well as submitting the same project to multiple jams. Many jams allow this, so I submit my games if they fit the rules. I am an active user on itch and I made multiple games (90% of them are prototypes I continue to work on behind the scenes).
I updated this game specifically for American Gothic Jam, as well as my other project I’m about to update. I actually didn’t plan to jam this year, but the topic of jam is too fitting for my storytelling style. Given that the deadline is until 2027, I will be able to fit multiple updates on the way.
Those 2 projects fit the theme because my story style is close to American Gothic (though location wise is vaguely in England). Both projects are playable. Chrystal is showing first chapter currently, Timeline shows full gameplay (planned as very tiny game, showcasing visuals). Both are currently in prototype stage visually and base for plot showcased.
For Chrystal, current update is switch to a more “professional” engine (+added music), which is kind of a major update for the project. You can download older version or see the videos on my page that show the old version.
