Holy hell that was an EXPERIENCE. This is one of the few VNs that I have patiently gone through the guide to discover all the endings instead of being satisfied with the one I currently have. I have so much to say so I apologize like hell that this will contain spoilers for the neutral endings!
This was a rollercoaster, and oh my god it was so intense. The writing is just superb and really knows how to capture such intense emotions. The art is just amazing, not only Soren but each side character was wonderfully done art and writing style! I do have my thoughts on why our wonderful Coworker is just left Coworker without a mention of her name but then again the Boss is left as his name despite him actually having one (was it Jason...? I know it starts with a J). I love Mia though, she really is the best friend MC needs but I like how Mia can't "save" MC, only MC can save herself while Mia can offer her help as much as she can. That's honestly quite a realistic and admittedly healthy relationship... Too bad Soren wouldn't let MC go THAT easily.
But I have to say, the neutral endings were brutal. I feel like they were worse than a bad ending you could put out because of how subtle the punishment was. Each time you broke up with Soren each ending just punished you in different ways.
Ending A and D have you be relatively successful (A lets you try to start a new life while D has you become financially successful) however, you are punished to be haunted by Soren lingering in the background forever watching over you whether you like it or not (A was subtle and haunting, but D was terrifying and loud). Ending C was a much gentler punishment as it literally has you bound to Soren by guilt and the determination to make it right (I also think Soren must be a madman to intentionally put himself in a car crash).
But Ending D- and F... Whoo boy was that intense... I think Ending D- is my favorite purely because of how soul crushing it is. Throughout the first part of the story I was so confused with MC's decision to break it off with Soren who has shown to be nothing but perfect, I understand that she has bad relationships but maybe because I didn't have that experience I wasn't quick to empathize with her situation. I thought by putting more background on her decision would be much more impactful but holy shit was Ending D- intense.
The writing peaked there, the self-loathing, feeling inadequate, berating yourself, and feeling apathetic towards your own situation that it spirals out of control. Damn was that intense. I genuinely felt equally hurt with MC over these thoughts that when Soren appeared I instantly became suspicious. How the hell does he always have the perfect timing?? Not only that, but his "knight" mentality was pretty subtly but the protectiveness he had over MC injuring herself and then forcing her to go to the hospital was telling. I think Ending D- really highlights the lowest of low MC could go through and something about that is really tragic.
Now, Ending F was intense. Seeing MC go through so many emotions and highs, clinging on to the desperation that Soren, her perfect ex-boyfriend, still loved her was really painful to watch as it was humiliating to see her lose her rationality and dignity like that. But in a way it was also understandable. If Ending D- was well written for MC then Ending F highlights Soren's yandereness. In the previous endings, we don't see a very strong yandere behavior from Soren aside from Ending C and that has him hidden, driving MC mad. But Ending F did not shy away how insane Soren is.
I mean, we see parts of it in Ending D- where he tells MC that he's glad all she experienced were awful people as he can mask better around her but in Ending F he outright admits he staged this cheating relationship to make her jealous, knowing very deeply how insecure MC is towards herself and was so willing to exploit that vulnerability in a way to punish or hurt MC to act out. The expression on the sprite is outright delicious, and the way he so brazenly admits it is very satisfying in an insane way. And how quick he was to trap MC was also pretty smart. The one thing I'm not super satisfied with is how the actual ending played out with MC so happy to take Soren back even though she was full of humiliation of "ruining" the engagement.
But with regards to Soren, honestly he's more than a yandere. He's so complex in how he handles MC. Like, he didn't even need to get violent (aside from Ending C), but the devastation he put MC through is nothing to sneeze at. He had MC by the throat drowning in grief or cutting off her bright future and forcing her to stay trapped in a terrifying cage with him in her every thought. I have no idea what goes through his mind and frankly, he kinda terrifies me. The way you wrote how manipulative he was is so well done that it gives me the shivers and honestly I think that's the reason why I continuously kept on getting all the endings.
This is honestly so amazing, I'm sooo looking forward to seeing more from this project~!
