Very nice -- the level design is intriguing and kind of beautiful, and the grappling hook mechanic is the right balance between simple and challenging. Three suggestions:
- the game could really use some sound design (footsteps, creature noises, even just ambient wind). EDIT: Might be a bug? The guide mentions using sound cues, but after the initial menu music, I hear no sound at all.
- In the web version, using the Ctrl key as a core mechanic when you're also swinging around with WASD risks accidentally pressing Ctrl+W and closing the tab! Not sure if there's a way to block that shortcut in-game, but it killed my first run.
- I'd love an option to descend the structure without the monster -- it does add fear and pressure, but the challenge of descending safely is an interesting enough puzzle on its own. Maybe at least an option to nerf its speed/damage? When I first encountered it, I leapt off the platform, fell like 100 feet, snagged a ledge, and lowered myself further to what felt like safety, only for me to turn around with the monster right next to me and killing me in two hits. Definitely felt like hard mode right off the bat.
Hi J117!
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! We currently don't offer a web version of the game so you may have been playing some kind of unofficial version hosted by someone else.
There should be sound so if you try again with a build provided either from this itch page or our Steam page and still experience this issue, let us know!
Weird, I found it on this site but on second glance it looks like a "fan site"? Though it has an AI-written vibe as well. Not sure what's going on there.
