With only a grappling hook, you must descend thousands of meters into an ancient mega-structure, all while being hunted by something unnatural.
It takes about 20-40 minutes to finish on normal difficulty but there is more to unlock and see.

Hi!
I replied to your topic on Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/app/4450800/discussions/0/797840845858630225/
If anyone here has the same issue, I'll post the info here too:
We have a potential workaround by tweaking the audio latency setting. You can do so via a startup argument: --audio-output-latency 30
Process of launching the game with a startup argument using Windows:
- Find the game's executable file (.exe)
- Right-click and create a shortcut to it
- Right-click the shortcut, open Properties and find the Target field
- Add the above argument to the end of the path (ensure there's a space between)
- Use the new shortcut to launch the game
When using Linux, you can launch it via the terminal adding the startup argument to the end (ensure there's a space between)
Hi madsmikkelsenn,
Sorry for the issue, thanks for reporting it to us and sending the screenshot
If haven't already, could you try to re-download the game and see if it helps? Sometimes the files get corrupted during download and that can cause issues like this
If you still encounter the issue you can try use an alternate renderer. I'll post the instructions below:
If on Windows use this startup argument: --rendering-driver d3d12

If that still doesn't fix it, could you send us an output log file? Instructions: https://idolsofash.com/support.html
Hi J117!
Thanks for your feedback and suggestions! We currently don't offer a web version of the game so you may have been playing some kind of unofficial version hosted by someone else.
There should be sound so if you try again with a build provided either from this itch page or our Steam page and still experience this issue, let us know!
Hi conyhg1!
Sorry for the issue, thanks for letting us know
Would you mind sending us a log file using the instructions below if you haven't already? If you can include a screenshot that could also be super helpful in figuring out the issue!

Hi Blackpark,
Thanks for sending the screenshot and letting us know about the issue, sorry that the game isn't loading correctly.
Empty log file will make this harder to diagnose but here are some general recommendations for troubleshooting the issue (if you haven't already done so):
- Re-download the game files from itch.io, sometimes the download can get corrupted and cause issues
- Update your graphics drivers, perhaps using something like AMD's Adrenalin 22.6.1 to ensure you are using the latest drivers. Reinstalling the drivers may also help resolve issues!
- You can try using an alternate rendering mode which may bypass an issue with the Vulkan renderer:
To do so you can launch the game with this startup argument: --rendering-driver d3d12
Process of launching the game with a startup argument:
- Find the game's exe file
- Right-click and create a shortcut to it
- Right-click the shortcut, open Properties and find the Target field
- Add the above argument to the end of the path (ensure there's a space between)
- Use the new shortcut to launch the game
Hopefully these will help, do let us know if you continue to have issues!
Hi TheStew32! You don't need both versions, the number is just to show which one is the latest build.
I would recommend trying to change some of the video settings to see if it helps, perhaps windowed mode on a lower resolution and turning off volumetric lighting?
If you are still experiencing issues, sending us a log file could help us track the issue down. Sorry for the trouble.

(I also copied this reply to your other message in the 1.14 release notes)
Hi Onno_199!
You don't need to purchase the game again, it should be in your library. Click on the dropdown arrow next to your username in the upper-right corner, and go to library. It should be available to download there. We've released a few updates which were meant to help some of the graphics issues reported, so I suggest trying the latest version and seeing if the issue persists.
If you are on the latest build and it is still causing issues, sending us a log file could help us track down the issue here are some instructions: https://idolsofash.com/support.html

If you already completed the First Kiln, here's how to unlock the new game modes without doing it again
First, close the game and find your user data folder. Depending on your platform, type this into the address bar of your file explorer:
Windows: %AppData%\Godot\app_userdata\Idols of Ash Linux: ~/.local/share/godot/app_userdata/Idols of Ash
Then find the player_data.cfg file and edit it using a text editor. Change this line and set the difficulty to 3
[unlocked] difficulty=0
Then run the game, sorry for the hassle!
Sorry for the issue, thanks for letting us know!
If you continue to have issues running the game, would you mind emailing us a log file?
You can access the logs by opening your file explorer and entering this into the address bar:
%AppData%\Godot\app_userdata\Idols of Ash\logs

It's possible that it's overloaded some the audio buffers. If this is the case, we might be able to provide a workaround that gets your audio working much better
To do so you can launch the game with this startup argument: --audio-output-latency 30
Process of launching the game with a startup argument:
- Find the game's exe file
- Right-click and create a shortcut to it
- Right-click the shortcut, open Properties and find the Target field
- Add the above argument to the end of the path (ensure there's a space between)
- So the path should be something like this: "C:\path\to\idols_of_ash.exe --audio-output-latency 30"
- Launch the game via the new shortcut
If you try the above setting tweak and it's better but still having some issues you can try increasing the latency a bit more with this argument: --audio-output-latency 45
Hopefully this helps! The audio is super important in this game!
If you continue to have issues, emailing us at team@leafygames.com will let us better support you directly!
