thanks so much!! yea i agree it's not really true retrofuturism but we thought it was a fun enough idea that we'd just do it anyway. glad you enjoyed so many aspects of it!!

out of curiosity what would make the movement better? we didn't come in to this super familiar with the genre so weren't too sure what "good" feeling movement is like, would be nice to know how we could have done it better :)

I already played a couple of other games, so maybe I am already remembering the movement wrong, but I think your game does not buffer the next command. As in I move forward and press rotate left just as the forward movement is ending. Many other submissions will register that and will turn the player left. In your game the command goes into the void. That is not gamebreaking or anything, but having buffering smoothes out the gameplay.
