I would say this game isn't an incremental game it's a puzzle game with incremental elements but it's missing what I consider to be a core element of incremental games which thinking more on it I come to the conclusion you can't have an incremental puzzle game it's either an incremental game with puzzle elements or a puzzle game with incremental elements because the core of the two genre's are mutually exclusive I consider a core feature of incremental games is that there isn't a strict sequence that has to be followed ... going from the definition you posited in your other review reply posts the castlevania and metroid games would be incremental games and no one considers them such

that said despite it not being what I'd consider an incremental game (despite it being inspired by 3 incremental games) it was fun until the battle I'm going to give the battle one more shot before I give up on it

Thank for the insightful feedback! It all comes down to definitions. For me an incremental game is not a game where there is not a strict sequence to be followed. An incremental game is any game where there is a progression system, either by numbers going up, or unlocking new mechanics, and this game has both. This definition is very vague, and in fact, most games are incrementals, with some exceptions, like competitive multiplayer games, for example: Dota, Tekken, Chess,… An incremental game can literally be pressing a button to increase a number, and another button to spend that number to make the first button give you more number. Then, I would agree that that game is not fun, but would still satisfying a definition and being fun are not the same thing. Therefore, I agree that a game with more freedom of choice is more interesting and therefore more fun, but if it does not have that parameter, it does not mean it is not incremental. With that said, in fact I don’t like a game which is too linear, which Chrono Bot currently can feel like, but this is just an introduction, and I wanted to keep things simple. In future content we will have more paths, more freedom, and hopefully, more fun :D

Thanks for Playing

This definition is too trivial and vague that it doesn't capture any useful notion of incremental.

IMO the core aspect of incremental games is incremental accumulation of resources. The whole game is centered around accumulating such resources, using them to overcome challenges, and accumulating more of them. These resources are usually persistent, but exchanging some of them for another type (like prestiging) is also possible.

In contrast, a puzzle game is trying to solve a problem within clear boundaries. In this game, when trying to beat the final boss, there's a clear boundary: time limit and batteries avaliable.

I can agree with that definition, still the 2 genres can cohexist. Here you accumulate more and more resources the more you progress. And beat puzzles which get progressively harder with more resources and mechanics to juggle
