With the Yliad arc wrapped up, Volume 2 of The Daily Spell is serializing the Oscar Wilde play, The Importance of Being Earnest! I’m really excited for everyone to enjoy its rapid-fire quips and shenanigans (and as for me, I’ll be enjoying a break from writing every day!)

Important note: Volume 2 daily updates are only be available at the-daily-spell.com, not on itch. But since we have this forum, feel free to discuss the The Importance of Being Earnest puzzles and developments here.

This is fun! The punctuation makes it a little more tricky!

"Anyone" is one word.

Take it up with Oscar Wilde, my friend. 😄 I’m not going to edit the text, we’re just going to play through it.

A good compromise, I think, and a fun way to read some classics in the public domain. Also a play I love, so that's exciting! I imagine that breaking the scenes up in a way that does not feel too choppy over a longish period of time,  since it was meant to be experienced all in one go, may turn out to be the biggest challenge . But a(this) play does have the benefit of being naturally split into scenes. ☺️

Yeah, I’m curious to see how it goes. I’m hoping that the new UI will help, because it always shows all the previous text (but lands you at the bottom to solve the most recent one) so the context is there if you scroll up. I hope everyone will let me know how it feels as we get a little bit further in.

ooooh that was fun! I've never seen this play, so it'll be trickier for me, but I'm excited!

Oh wow. Thanks for the story, it was superb!

Are there spoiler tags in this forum? Anyway, that is an incredible way to describe a bad marriage

Developer(+1)

Indeed! As for spoilers, I feel we don’t need to be strict about them when discussing The Importance of Being Earnest. If folks don’t want to be spoiled on a 130-year-old play they can not check the thread until they’re caught up.

While I’m thinking about it - I’ll probably make separate discussion threads for each of the three acts, to give a little bit of structure, but I think we’ll be okay within that.

Anyway, to answer the question, Itch doesn’t have good spoiler tags, annoyingly, although there’s this technique: https://itch.io/t/2151831/adding-spoiler-text-to-your-game-description
