Why should it be free to download and edit? So someone could export it and build their own rendition and put a price tag on it?
I guess the gpl license would make that illegal? But yes you are right :)
Liscenses on the internet are only as powerful as the people who steal the liscensed software's ability to rewrite the code or reorganize it.
You could say that the free open source version always draws in more users and developers too. Opentoonz is much wider adopted by toonz :)
It's way ahead in features too
