Cool take on the theme and I really liked the writing and presentation throughout. It executes well on its premise, the  way the game keeps track of your fingers, ear and head especially is very charming. As you mention on the page the balancing feels a bit off, I certainly feel that there wasn't much I could do about infamy with coin being so difficult to come by. But I still enjoyed thinking through it, and the pixelart throughout is great!

Few things that would improve it besides balancing imo are just:

 - sound effects on card press would be nice

- I think the red text is kind of hard to read for negative effects, and wonder if the contrast to the background for that could be improved a bit

- I think I would like to play towards something rather than just survive as long as I can. I got excited when 'the prince hires you' came up, but I don't think that's hooked up to further story events per say - sprinkling more of that in so there is a genuine win scenario if you make it long enough would be great I think.

Awesome entry, really well designed!

Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful feedback! To address it:

  • Yeah balance is way off, I'm working on a small update that I'll push after the jam is over. Yesterday it was too easy, today is too hard lmao
  • Sound effects are on my to-do list, yesterday it was publishing the itch  page or that, it was down to the last 20 minutes really my bad
  • Yup, received a comment from a colorblind person and the red is just invisible.. I thought I had enough contrast but I failed there
  • And finally, I'm swapping the events system on the left with a mini quest system, some randomly generated stuff about collecting x gold for a reward or surviving x days or something, just to make it feel a bit better. Next week ;)

Those sound like great plans for it, glad you'll keep working on it! It's great when a game jam ends in a position where one more week after you can tie up those extra lose ends and make it all really shine. Nine days are never quite enough for that :D
