I think the point is that you have to calculate how much you can eat before the baker is susceptible to come back. There's a stat that mentions how long it takes to eat a thing, so I feel like if you could just control how long you eat a thing it would kind of negate the point of having them have different stats.

Yeah that's it, you have to be careful because some pastries take more time to eat (indicated roughly, in each popup as "Time to eat: Slow" for example).
I think being able to stop when you want would make the game a lot easier. I get your point of you not feeling it's well explained enough
