Hi there this is my first jam i am a 6th grader.. any ideas?

well, the theme isn't revealed yet, so any idea probably wouldn't fit. You can come up with base ideas for a game and build it around the theme but usually it just makes it harder. I would wait until after the theme is revealed to come up with an idea. I would suggest watching the official gdevelop game jam guide to understand how it works better.

  1. Read the Game Jam guide page.

  2. Try to participate first in other minijams (when I have enough time I participate in “Trijams”). A lot of experience and ideas can be adquired!!

  3. Once the theme is revealed, expend the first day with a pen and paper (better a lot of papers). Ideas, words, connections, search in other jams… A core cool mechanic, then other 2-3 minor mechanics (only if needed), a list of sprites and items for the game, lenght, etc.

  4. Be VERY flexible. If you are blocked, overscoped your game, running out of time… Think about the minimum expression of the game. Is far better having a little polished game than a massive game full of bugs.

  5. Designing, aesthetic… Is important. Also a minimum lore to create a more inmersive context is apreciated.

  6. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: Enjoy the experience, get fun, talk to others (Discord, Community…), play other’s games, give feedback, learn… Is the BEST part.
