Hey @DarkPath - I left a comment on the Dream Disc '25 page for Soul Blaze, but I thought I'd leave one here too. I'm actually having a problem getting the demo to start.

It gets stuck on the Title Screen. It says "Press Start" - but nothing happens. I've tried it on my Dreamcast (using MODE) and also on a couple of emulators. But they all get stuck on the Title screen. The music and stuff is playing, so I don't think it's crashing. But it's not registering any button press.

Do you know if there is a bug? Or am I somehow doing something wrong?

Cheers.

Hi, that's very strange. I've tried it on Flycast now and it works fine. I'll try it on my console as soon as I can. Did you download the .cdi file? Or the zip file?

@DarkPath To answer your question, I downloaded and tried both.

BUT I managed to get it working. It's weird though, I had to use my RetroFighters Wireless controller on my Dreamcast.

I originally tried 3 official Dreamcast controllers. They work on every other game (official and homebrew). But didn't work on this.

But the wireless RetroFighters did work! Really not sure why 🤷

But awesome demo! Great to see what could be possible in future for indie games! 😎👏👏

Thanks! I'm glad it finally works for you and that you were able to try it out. Maybe some controls aren't compatible, but the original version should be. In any case, I've uploaded a new version—I don't know if you've had a chance to try that one yet.

Hello!
I have a standard Dreamcast with the factory GD-ROM drive.
On it, the menu loads in about 10 seconds, and after pressing Start the game takes around 80 seconds to load. After that it runs fine.

  • Redream has issues and seems to fail to run the game.

  • Flycast (default settings) runs the game, but the FMV becomes sluggish and the shadow volumes turn pitch black and show some bugs.

  • Flycast with a real Dreamcast BIOS loaded has been reported to run the game just like on a real Dreamcast.

  • I was about to test it with DreamShell, but my TV malfunctioned, so I’m not sure about that one yet.

You’re the first person trying it using MODE 🙂 So I guess it might be suffering from the same issue as Redream.

@Rogério Perdiz I managed to get it working. But it's weird, only a specific (unofficial) wireless controller seems to work on my Dreamcast. I replied to DarkPath above in full.

But to answer your question re. Emulators. I tried ReDream and NullDC. Both failed to register my controller presses.

Though the emulators themselves did register the controllers. Like I can navigate the ReDream menus with the controller, but it fails to play the game.

I've never used Flycast. I'll try that in future. But, as I say, I got it working now🥳

Great demo btw! I know it's not fully finished yet but really cool to see what could be possible 😎🤘

That's awesome news! Thanks for the update.

Yesterday I gave a try to the most recent version and now  it runs on ReDream... in fact it runs a bit too well. The game is locked to 30 FPS, but in ReDream runs at 60 FPS 😆

Shadow volumes and .roq fmv still don't work but that is not a problem on our end, only the emulator guys that can solve it.

Thanks, you're a pal! :) Have a great time!
