That's awesome news! Thanks for the update.
Yesterday I gave a try to the most recent version and now it runs on ReDream... in fact it runs a bit too well. The game is locked to 30 FPS, but in ReDream runs at 60 FPS 😆
Shadow volumes and .roq fmv still don't work but that is not a problem on our end, only the emulator guys that can solve it.
Thanks, you're a pal! :) Have a great time!
Yeah, thanks for the heads up!
I'm writing it here as well in case others run into the same issue.
This is what we know at the moment:
-
The emulator Redream, if I recall correctly, showed similar behaviour. It definitely had some issues, although I don’t remember exactly what they were.
-
Flycast with the default settings will run the game, but the FMV and shadow volumes have problems.
-
Flycast with a real Dreamcast BIOS loaded has been reported to run exactly like on the original console.
A standard Dreamcast with the GD-ROM runs the game fine, but it takes about 10 seconds to load the menu and around 80 seconds to load the game. The game only needs to load once, and after that you can play it from start to finish without further loading interruptions.
Hello!
I have a standard Dreamcast with the factory GD-ROM drive.
On it, the menu loads in about 10 seconds, and after pressing Start the game takes around 80 seconds to load. After that it runs fine.
-
Redream has issues and seems to fail to run the game.
-
Flycast (default settings) runs the game, but the FMV becomes sluggish and the shadow volumes turn pitch black and show some bugs.
-
Flycast with a real Dreamcast BIOS loaded has been reported to run the game just like on a real Dreamcast.
-
I was about to test it with DreamShell, but my TV malfunctioned, so I’m not sure about that one yet.
You’re the first person trying it using MODE 🙂 So I guess it might be suffering from the same issue as Redream.
Hello Mr. Backware™! Nice to meet you!
Thanks! We’re really happy the game left a good impression on you! 🙂
The Spiral Game Engine is still in development. As you can see, it’s already working well and has quite a lot of features, but it still needs some work before being ready for the public. Miguel, the creator of Spiral, really wants to make sure the first release is solid and polished.
Stay tuned! 🙂
