Hi guys,
I am a newby developer looking for advice, collaborations, and/or a casual mentor. Nothing big — just someone to point me in the right direction for now.
The idea - the Maze of Gravitite.
About the Game: Ultimately I am aiming to create an open world for exploration, where up and down is not permanent, but depends on where you stand. The core concept of this world is that gravity changes with the slope of the terrain. While exploring this land, the 'up and down' will change depending on where your stand. Gravity is pulling you always to the suface under your feet.
Development Challenge: The developement will require a interesting implementation of the 3-dimensional world, with gravity shifting, centered around the player.
As I am much more a creative person, and lacking in the skills of a developer and programmer I would love to invite interested people to explore the possibilities of this idea together, or to provide your expertise or advice. I would be happy to be able to build a small scale version, like a naked world with just the bent surface and a simple movement system following the rules of my world.
Main Questions:
- Do you think this idea can even work?
- Which game engine would you recommend to get started with this project?
- Also, just plain advice - If you remember how you started: what’s the most important skill a hobby developer should pick up?
