Wow, this game's got a great first impression! A day/night cycle, consequences for your actions, and one of the coolest initial party lineups I've ever seen. A clown, a beast-man, and a mimic, all of whom change into different forms. As someone who just beat final fantasy legend, I was excited.
Unfortunately, my skills are no match for this game's difficulty. The brutally limited resources combined with only saving in town and the guaranteed encounters is a hell of a combo. I agree with Aria's description: "Overwhelming" is a great way to describe it. I've been pretty diligent in beating the games of this jam, even the real hard ones, but around the second time a vampire instantly game-overed me with an AoE status move I realized I probably wouldn't be seeing this one through. My best run did see me successfully take down the ghost witches, albeit by the skin of my teeth and using most of the Elemental's MP. Most of my party was dead, however, and I didn't make it out of the cave before a mob of 6 skeletons and a mold took me down.
Don't take this as me disliking the game. I think it's super cool! Though I'm afraid I can't offer much in the way of constructive criticism that'd be helpful for patch notes, simply because I didn't really last long enough to get into the nitty-gritty of the mechanics. I did think it was a little silly that my Skeleton-form Mimic (which seems to have no notable characteristics) could be hit by Venom, though I imagine this reflects the enemy also being vulnerable to the status as well.
I definitely recommend anyone check this out for its creative party and statuses, particularly if you're into difficult resource management!
