If you're familiar with Lynch's work, some of the key moments of inspiration for this mechanic are the following:
1. The point in Mulholland Drive where the paradigm and relationship between the characters shift when the box is unlocked, making it unclear what was dream and what was reality.
2. The few points in Lost Highway where the POV character changes.
3. The point in Inland Empire when Laura Dern's character starts wandering around liminal spaces. (Twin Peaks has some good moments like this too).
