I think I fixed this in a cancelled V2.0 update to this game, but I'd have to grab the 1.1 source code from my old PC to backport the working volume code.

If I don't get around to doing that, you can probably just use Volume Mixer on Windows or KMix on Linux to change the volume.

Version 1.1a has now released, which fixes this issue.
