Whenever there's a new game from CCadori I'll make sure to check it out, and this time working in a team!

Some notes that I took:

  • The visuals are beautiful as always and the music was a great match, so hats off for Tim as well (I kept the game running just to listen to it while writing this).
  • I liked the way you presented the instructions, the images helped me understand everything in under a minute. The only thing I was kind of missing from both the in-game guide and the page is that you move with WASD. I know it's intuitive, but for a short time for the first game I was confused and due to the slow movement against the wind, I thought you can only move in the wind's direction, at that landed me in the danger zone.
  • Others already pointed out, but the danger zone could use some more indication, it's easy to cross the line, especially in a heated combat, and since the enemy is not affected by it, it can be frustrating to sink because of that.
  • Once I figured out the movement and got some practice (and upgrades), the snipirate life was great. Due to their damage, the large ships felt like a leap in challenge, but it felt rewarding when I could take down one of them.
  • My favourite part of the art were the islands, along with their names. I could imagine a short sentence description for each to further improve the vibes, but I understand that UI space is expensive. I liked how the island interaction panel just showed up when I was in the vicinity, but it could also be a bit distracting when I'm in the middle of a combat. I didn't get into the economy part yet, I was happy to survive.
  • I'm not sure about the spawning logic, but sometimes it felt like the whole ocean is empty then the next moment I was surrounded by 3-4 enemies. Not necessarily an issue, but it felt unfair at times.

Overall, it's probably the best game I played this jam so far and I already see it winning. You heard it from me first!

thanks very much for the detailed feedback!

I did the how to play screen on the last evening, and you are right i totally didn‘t think of the movement with WASD :)   Will add this with the next update.

I choose and implement the music and SFX. as soon as i found the music i directly know this was a banger soundtrack. Tim got 15€ for that from me, well deserved

I like how carlos has already a brand of „making high quality games“  I think that is true ;)

yeah enemy spawn logic and especially the visibility of the border area need some improvement.

I actually went on and bought the pack as well, it will be useful for some future projects or our tabletop rpg sessions.

Thank you so much for the kind comments, and for appreciating our work, vpeter! I'm happy to see you again at a Godot Wild Jam! 😊

Overall, I agree with your points (the audio design is really good, thanks to Ollibanjo)

But I don't think it's that simple, there are many good games in this edition, including yours!
