This was my first game jam. I started with 120 hours of experience in development and Godot combined, and I finished with 150 hours of experience. I think this will be my last game jam for a long period. I can't learn and develop properly with a three-day deadline; it makes me too anxious.

enjoy the result of my little war 🫠💝

I think you should still give another jam a try! I started quite recently too and there's so much I didn't get to implement in my game because I just don't know how (like one example would have been splitting the ray and then merging it but I had so little knowledge about raycasting to begin with that I barely got the main gimmick to work reliably) but I decided to write that stuff down and now in my free time I try to learn and make them work. Of course that's just how I do it, I'm sure others do it differently. Anyway I enjoyed your game, even if it was a bit short. I see what you were going for so it's a shame you didn't have enough time to finish what you were planning. I wish you the best of luck!

It's totally fine and don't give up! This is my second game jam and I serve it as a chance to learn the Godot basics like how to use Tilemaps and Animated Sprites. After spending 2 days researching how to do the reflection and sliding effect, I had no time and could only submit a prototype without gameplay, and the lesson here is to plan for a super mini game when the jam period is so short. Nevertheless the experience was still rewarding, and game jam is also a good opportunity to play and learn from others' games~ =w=

Hello friend! Sorry to hear the game jam was a little too anxiety inducing. But for some perspective, you are in a short jam and solo with not much development experience going based on the 120hours. I wouldn't be hard on yourself at all just because you weren't able to finish your submission or get it fully within the scope you envisioned. Jams are about experimenting and pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, it's okay to feel anxious about it and its okay if it doesn't work out. I encourage you to try some longer form game jams (7+ days) where you can really take your time and flush out your ideas.
I mean heck I have who knows how many hours of dev experience (a lot less in game dev though) and I still struggle to make game jam submissions that are passable as games! The fact of the matter is learn from it but don't let this game jam define your view of game jams. Keep taking risks and challenging yourself, its the best way to improve your craft. For now take a bit of a rest and then come back stronger. Good luck :)
