There aint a singular audience for AVN's, and even then, plenty of other AVN's have female characters, of all relationship status, that don't have any connection or romance to the character, to dumb it down, existence of a person doesn't automatically mean that they have to fall in love with the main character.

Instead he writes it out that someone is raped, murdered, and we stumble upon the aftermath. Its meant to tell the character that his actions had unwanted consequences, Not to mention, even the homeless dude who raped her admits she was begging for mercy.
