it is really easy to game the system for warpoints - get points for dying, get points for winning. Surrender at level 10 or 9, get 9 pts, easy scale up to 7 or 8 again. get 2 or 3 point per level depending on the upgrade, repeat ad infinitum and the whole tree becomes a walk.

That is true. I planned the surrender button for such cases where player is stuck for a long time and there is no development.. like if the enemy is tough but not strong enough to destroy the player base. Maybe I will show the button only if the game lasts 3 minutes or more

The ideal solution was to come up with some time limiting mechanics leading to victory or loss but it is still in progress :)
