The story was really important to me, more than it probably should have been. I spent half the week thinking and imagining how the world works, the characters, and the worldbuilding, which I barely managed to actually implement. But even so, all my other projects were just thoughts and notes; this was the first one that truly saw the light of day, which is already a big step.

And you’re absolutely right about the environment. I realized it really does feel much more like a dungeon than a cyberpunk setting.

About the Z button, it’s just the default preset in GB Studio, and I’ll look into changing it to Escape, which is definitely much more intuitive.

Yes, the story is a big plus in the game.
But don't tell me you are really considering using ESC for jumping? Escape is almost universally acknowledged as the key which "escapes" the normal flow (hence the name) and brings you either back a level (UI level, not game level) or calls a Pause menu. On most (PC) games which include jumping, the "jump button" is SPACE. That's even the Default in some game engines.
