Basically, when your drawing mode is set to "color" then images will import in colour, using the nearest colour in the palette. If the drawing mode is set to black and white (which is the default) images import in black and white, dithered. Often the best results however for colour image importing is using an external tool to dither to the desired palette before importing. In terms of iPad OS, I don't think there's a version of Decker that runs natively for it - the builds on the itch page are targeted towards desktop Windows and MacOS (or Linux users can build from source). If you're using an iPad or an Android tablet then you are basically stuck with the web app. The web and native versions are pretty much feature-identical for what it's worth.

Thanks that is really helpful! The dithering has had good results with the pictures i have been using after i turned on the color mode.

-Another problem i have been having is that when I import the HTML to my website (using NameCheap Hosting Services), the Stack appears on phone displays too small to see anything, a very tiny image. Any way to enlarge it to fit the phone screen size? Thanks! The website is located at AstroLounge.bar and yes, very early development stage

I don't think i have made a point-click stack concept since the early 90's. 😆 I used to have fun with Hypercard as a little kid, and Spelunx was a favorite game. I'm glad to see something like Decker that brings that to modernity, wish i would have found it a while ago. I did not really delve into computer programming and like I said, no laptop and very limited coding knowedge, so designing my website is challenging. iPad was not as great as i expected and iPadOS has very much lacking to sum it up.

Anyway my project is basically a spaceport lounge for people to come visit, i am in the early stages and i found a fun domain, "astrolounge.bar" that can attract people who venture outside social media from time to time. There will be fun features inside and outside of Decker, my music, and my art displayed eventually at the AstroLounge. A great find for a website at $1.80/year!

Decker isn't really particularly suited for phones, TBH. I've found at least on Android devices rotating the device to landscape and adding a button to toggle to full screen can help things a bit, but it's really more suited for larger screens.

ok thanks! It does work very well on the iPad. The larger iPhone I use is manageable but I will look into the Fullscreen Button. Thanks for the response!

Seconding Millie’s recommendation of “landscape” and “fullscreen” modes.

Decker’s default deck size is very much landscape-oriented, so it’s never going to work very well on a portrait-mode device.

In addition, Decker tries to display itself at an exact multiple of the deck size, to keep those pixels razor-sharp for the retro aesthetic. However, in full-screen mode Decker abandons that restriction and displays itself as large as will fit. For example, an iPhone 16’s screen is 1179px on the short axis, which is ~3.4 times larger than a Decker deck. Normally Decker will scale itself 3x, leaving a wide black margin (about 13% of the screen height, total) around the edges. In fullscreen mode (when you pick “Fullscreen” from the Decker menu), it expands to cover the full height, giving you a bit more space to poke at buttons and drag sliders around.
