YESSS SOMONE WHO LOVES IT! BTW, did you play multiple times to choose different products because each product has 12 unique lines that includes your options and the corporate praise after delivering the mail.

Oh!! I didn't think about trying, I'll play it again today! But honestly the voice lines I loved the most were the ones you guys actually did, the text to speech ones were ok, but you guys gave the characters so much personality and hearing your voices dubbing them, even if not in a perfectly crisp professional-voice-actor style, was really wholesome and made me yearn to read the next letter!

Im glad to hear you enjoyed them! Canonically I got away with the TTS because you (The robot) Is making the AD and low quality tts is just more comfortable/ cozy because it doesn’t remind the player of the eerie scariness of the real world where I could make VERY realistic TTS with AI.

It was also very practical to use TTS because all the lines in game that are voiced by TTS (The Ads and corporate praise) add up to 120 Lines of TTS, which as you can guess, Is a lot of work for a game jam game and I couldn’t do. In fact I had to make a python script that goes through every line in my game, automatically generates the TTS for it and automatically adds it in game. Just because of the sheer amount of content

Oof that sounds like a lot of work! But don't worry! Personally I got your intention while playing the game, each character felt like their own and alive, while the TTS lines felt robotic and kind of emotionless - which to me it really fits with the idea of ads! There's truly no need for AI generated stuff when creativity exists 🙏

On the contrary, I used AI to write the Python script so boom conflicting information, But yeah all the mesaages and my fire writing-written by me!

I really love the way it turned out.

Oh if you love the characters then you should play Hot Coco Loco! Its about 15 minutes long and Sale Mail is a direct sequel to Hot Coco Loco.

The limitation for that jam included Intro and dialogue that the player can’t understand. It’s stands in strong contrast to Sale Mail but I think you’ll enjoy it none the less! I made an animation engine so I can individually animate every character with my mouse cursor so in that aspect they feel more alive.

Its actually really cool comparing hot coco loco and sale mail. Everything from voice acting, writing and even visuals are handled differently or upgraded.

Also join my discord if you wanna chat some more there! I’d love to! I made it as just a small community where I upload my progress during game jams and next year when I hopefully release my first game I could show it to my game jams friends for feedback, playtesting and I guess publicity.

BTW THE VOICE ACTING WAS SO MUCH FUN!
