I really, really want to love this game. The premise is fantastic - you are the Mecha!! - but…this may simply be inexperience…I just can’t figure out the SRD for it :(

To me, it feels like a group of journal prompts and the game aspect isn’t really there. I found myself lost trying to figure it out. That’s not to say that the prompts aren’t good -they are - but I love a game that throws me a curveball with the roll of the dice or the flip of a card. It feels more exciting and gets the gears turning better for me.

I absolutely adore “Lost Among The Starlit Wreckage” and hoped the gameplay would be kind of similar - with card prompts or dice tables. I’m really looking forward to trying “The Cog That Remains” based on W&A.

This all seems fair! TftC - like Lost & Found games overall - is definitely more towards the 'journaling' aspect of journaling game, where the game is in the structures around time, being prompted to change things, etc. While I didn't want to make it a rule, one thing I've done in the past is rolling for pilots, amount of time, and prompt. Granted, you might need to do some re-rolls or get some odd-sided dice like a d7, but the randomization might help!

In any case, thanks for giving it a try, and I'm glad you liked LATSW! Finally, with cards, dice, and blocks in the mix I have high hopes for your The Cog That Remains experience!
