We will definitely implement your first point, as for the second one I'm still hesitating as it might be worth letting the player that extra time to see what is going on.

For the second one I really meant that as an option, like showing a small prompt on one corner of the screen (not a pop-up window or anything) "Press R to restart" and it's up to the player to click or not :)
You're right about the extra time being worth it ! On my first 2-3 runs I definitely used it to explore more to figure out which pictures I'd take for the next one.
