Game description
Lakan Saga: Spirit Waves" is a fast-paced 2D action platformer where you play as a Filipino spirit warrior defending the mortal realm from mythological creatures. Battle through waves of Aswang, Tikbalang, and Manananggal using spirit balls and power-ups in this challenging arcade-style survival game
Theme interpretation
I interpreted the theme through Filipino mythology - the "Spirit Waves" represent both the spiritual energy attacks you wield and the endless waves of mythological enemies. As a "Lakan" (Filipino warrior title), you channel ancestral spirit power to defend against supernatural threats, creating a fusion of traditional folklore with modern arcade gameplay. The game embodies the theme of spiritual resilience against overwhelming darkness through its wave-based combat system and power-ups that enhance your spiritual abilities.

That was fun, I made it to wave 6 with some practice. I agree with others here that the biggest challenge I had was finding the enemies or getting to them in time. Nothing wrong with that but I think the game would benefit from a non-linear level in that case so I could optimize my route. Or you could give indicators of where the next wave of enemies is with a map or arrows on screen or something.
I love mythology and folklore so that as the theme was really cool. I really liked the little touches like the parallax scrolling background and the music speeding up when you're running out of time. I especially liked the character and enemy art, they were simple but evocative. And the death animations for enemies felt really good.

I liked seeing a bit of Filipino folklore. The characters and costuming stood out to me. I lost when I couldn't find where the last enemies of the wave were, maybe a minimap would alleviate that concern.
