Game description
SID Surfer โ A rhythm rail-shooter that rides the waves of retro nostalgia. Surf neon sine wave highways while legendary Commodore 64 SID composers (Rob Hubbard, Ben Daglish, Martin Galway, Tim & Geoff Follin, Richard Joseph) provide the soundtrack. Enemies spawn to the beat, creating a musical challenge as you battle through waves of foes and epic boss fights. Built with Phaser 3 and authentic SID chip emulation via Tiny'R'Sid WebAssembly.
Theme interpretation
Theme Interpretation: Ride sine wave highways, fight waves of enemies, and groove to sound waves of classic C64 music. It's waves all the way down.

Fantastic idea to surf on the sound waves of the classic C64 composers. Unfortunetely the game is very hard and buggy. Shots are coming from nowhere and the game is going black after restarting. I tried it on Firefox with a Mac.
Thanx for the bug ๐๐ report, unfortunately we currently canโt test for Mac/Firefox cos we are broke founders, also โThe Algorithmโ is currently taking down most of our websites and making us look stoopid. We will rectify this in v2.0.
Love the chip tunes. Nice work.
THANX!! :D <3
cool concept, but I found the switch between soundtracks on each waves very stressful, would be nice with a fade between them, or perhaps you could have different instruments from the same track on each wave and then play them all at the same time but when you switch wave that instrument layer turns up a bit and the others turn down a bit - maybe! otherwise cool idea, gameplay and graphics:)
Yup, integrating that in v2.0! THANX! :D <3
I like this concept a lot! However, I feel that the gameplay could use a bit of balancing. Currently I can spam the arrow keys and space to keep swapping guns and shooting. Also the jump between waves is a bit jarring at first. That aside this is a super cool take on the theme. Great job!
THANX! Weโll put a crossfade in V2.0! :D <3
Cool concept and interpretation of the theme. Having different weapons would help a lot with the gameplay. Also adding a fade between tracks when switching waves would add a lot on the audio side. Great work!
Oh awesome feedback thanx so much! Weโll integrate these concepts into v2.0 for sure :D <3 8)
I can't say I have much commodore 64 knowledge or history, so I can't say whether or not its accurate. But its really cool you made the tracks compliant to the specs of the time. Very cool and visually appealing entry!
Thanx! They are actually REAL C64 SID tunes played thru the TinyโRโSid WASM library! :o :) :D
I like the creativity you had for the concept of this game. I didn't realize until right before I died that the enemies floating "randomly" through the air were actually riding on the waves in the background. Great touch to show which wave you had to switch to in order to get to the correct wave. Some thoughts that I would like to share is that the gun as the weapon was a little off-putting. It was very hard to shoot the enemies while the wave was bouncing unpredictably up and down. My first thought as to a fix to this would be to have some sort of sword. Maybe even the Synthblade? Great concept for a game. Keep up the good work!
The homing rockets help with that, but a Synthwave blade will defo be incorporated in v2.0, as well as free DLC content! :o Thanks for your feedback! :D <3
