It's optional, don't worry! Jin's side story does require it, but that's optional too.
ok, will you fix the gardens bugs? i get a lot of errors when sleeping with the ladies while the garden is up and/or stuff is growing.
I am unaware of any serious bugs at the moment. I'm sure there's some, but they need to be reported.
Only issue I've had is that Jin sometimes is letting plants die and not replacing them. Not sure what's causing that though.
You might have run out of bug spray?
