Hey! This is something I've been looking for when it comes to getting into the zone with writing. In the past I tried Mythic GM emulator but it had too many rules which for me was problematic. Some journaling games on the other hand have very narrow theme. The Adventurer is very open ended and simple to use at the same time.
The only thing that I feel is a bit limiting is that the Card Table focuses mainly on classic fantasy world while I also like other types of settings like post-apocalyptic, science fiction and new weird genres. I might try making my own variants when I got time. Something that could be also interesting is making altered table as story progresses. For example in the is second chapter of the story the war starts and that completely affects the locations, events and encounters.
Hi, glad you are enjoying the game.
You are correct, it does focus on a classic fantasy theme. There is a nice little sci-fi version of the game I put out that mixes it up a little bit too https://jameschip.itch.io/space-between-the-stars
I know also that others have also written their own card tables over the years too. Hope you get lots more fun from the system.
