During the "freeroam" section in i think chapter

53? 54? Can't remember.

The visual effects (I'm assuming) caused crashes. Specifically when inside the park.

I had to skip the optional dialog until the VFX became a still image.

 :(

This is on android.

Presumably, you’re referring to shaders. If you want the developers to actually be able to fix this, I’d highly recommend providing more information.

For Example…

  1. What version of Android are you running?
  2. What model is your device?
  3. Which version of the game? (e.g. for the most recent public build, “the Chapter 56 release” would be good enough)
  4. Precisely where do these crashes actually occur?
  5. If possible: take a video recording of the crash happening, so that the devs can see exactly when this happens.
  6. Provide any other information which you think could be useful. They will need to be able to identify exactly what is happening in the game at the point where you’re crashing.
I’m unsure if OoT has any kind of crash or debug logging—normally I’d recommend providing such a thing, but I don’t know if something like that is even accessible with this game.

As It Stands…

You’ve barely provided enough info for them to be able to maybe identify possible sources of the crash, and most developers aren’t going to waste their time trying to track down an obscure crash with almost no information on where that crash even occurs—let alone under what conditions it occurs in.

In The Meantime…

While I can’t help you with the crashes directly, if you can tell me precisely where the crash happens—that is, if you were to tell me what content you’re missing out on—I’d be happy to record and send videos of whatever content you’ve not seen.

You can message me directly if you’d like for me to do that.

Just So That You’re Aware…

I don’t check itch.io very frequently—responding to me on here isn’t likely to receive a very speedy reply. I expect that the next time that I’ll check back here might be somewhere between one to two weeks from now.

What version of android? Can you give runtime.log from the save folder? Does it show any errors in the game or just straight up crashes? Does it crash to home screen? Does animation play at all? Does this happen in earlier chapters with looped animations, like in prologue h-scene?

1. Idk.

2. My device won't let me see installed files unless it's plugged into a PC.

3. Crashes straight to home screen.

4. No problems with animations. Not in prologue nor early chapters. Not even in newer chapters.

Quite literally, the only crashes I've had were in that one scene in the newest "free roam" section. In the park with the blue sparky ball in the background.

I've had to skip just that dialogue. Which is a minor inconvenience.

Huh. The only thing I can think of is a bug with h264 codec on your device or with how unity uses it. Unity doesn’t have its own h264 codec and just uses system provided codec. I don’t see anything different about that particular animation compared to all other ones and they are all encoded exactly the same way. Neither do I see any difference in how it’s used in script.

About 2 - game installs its assets and saves into public folder (which is why it needs file management permission), so you should be able to see it even without plugging into PC.
