i was so hyped to try this one cuz I loved the artstyle but I couldnt get past the first guy, just didnt seem like I was being able to apply the potions to the cauldron

I hope you guys continue working on the game tho! Gave me a lot of nostalgia about this "bartender the right mix" I used to play when I was a kid, might be a cool reference!

Developer

Hey glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback!

A bit of a cheat sheet, for the tutorial you need Questionable Sugar (sugary - base ingredient), Calcium Powder (pale - color), and Vanishing Essence (disappears faster than my paycheck - effect/trait ingredient). After that just drag the cauldron stick around and make sure the bubbles don't pop! Then just drag the empty potion bottle (looks like a grenade), over the cauldron and drop it on the customer. The game is lacking a bit of visual feedback and we have already worked on it, just waiting for the voting period to end to update our build! Hope you give it another go with this :>

PS : YES I have played Bartender the Right Mix as a kid too.  Haha I forgot about that game. Thank you for reminding me.

This has to be the best stylized looking game in my opinion. Huge kudos to the team if all of this was drawn for the jam. Even the subtle animations made the entire game look extremely polished.

My only problem was with the gameplay. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong but I could not get past the first customer. I tried mixing every possible combination of potions and he did not want any of them 😂 (was it not sugar, calcium, vanishing potion?).  Also, I couldn't quite figure out the stirring/bottling as sometimes it simply would not bottle my potion.

I wish I could have seen more customers as the game idea and design was really well done. Not sure if the Bezi logo pops up later in the game but I didn't seem to see that theme anywhere.

Hey thanks for playing our game! It was definitely drawn all for the game jam! Huge shoutout to our artist Tethaku.

As for the gameplay side of things, yes we couldn't include certain visual indicators for some of the potion stuff. So let me just explain it, so far in testing you should be able to get every potion. There are some minor bugs like adding any ingredient adds the sound effect, even if the game doesn't allow it through code (like adding color before the neutral ingredient), apologies for that.

Every potion consists of 3 ingredients like the tutorial said, one neutral (top shelf => place this in the cauldron first), one color, and one trait ingredient (bottom shelf). After adding any 3 ingredients, a small mini game appears (even if you mix things in wrong). You just have to stir the cauldron and make sure those white bubbles that appear in the cauldron don't pop. After that is done, pick up the empty potion bottle and drag it over the cauldron to pick up the potion, and drop it on the customer.

The Bezi logo appears for every wrong or correct potion delivered. It also appears for the extra mechanic we thought of (mentioned in the tutorial), I hope you revisit the game and get to potion brewing :>

Thanks for the clarification! I think I was adding the first ingredient multiple times to make sure it was put in the cauldron and I think that's why it wasn't working. Also the bubbles tip to know when the cauldron was done was much needed. You are right on the Bezi logo, I didn't notice it the first time. It would have been cool to have a Bezi customer as well, but all the customers were so well drawn and the little backstories they all had were awesome! I nearly got a 5 star rating before a customer with a monster head came in which I swore was suspicious but ending up being innocent 😂. Great game! Thanks for helping me along with it.

Love to hear it, we tried to center the character's stories around haha moments and create funny dialogue! Would love to continue this mechanic of jailing characters and flesh the character's stories out a bit more.

The visuals and composition are fantastic. The potion instructions were a bit vague at times, but it was a lot of fun to work with.
I also like the stirring action. I think it's a great gimmick that works well with the time limit.
