Welcome!

Join our monthly 4-day game jam with $300+ in prizes! Create games using Unity and Bezi, with a special twist revealed at the start.

This month we're making HALLOWEEN GAMES - in celebration of spooky, eerie, and thrilling gameplay! We're talking horror adventures, haunted puzzlers, monster encounters, ghostly mysteries— if it gives you chills, thrills, or Halloween vibes, it fits!

Your game must revolve around a central Halloween theme, but past that, you've got free rein! If you're drawn to atmospheric scares; love crafting spooky narratives; or thrive on supernatural themes, you're free and welcome to make what makes YOU happy! We just ask that you make it your own, and focus around a central theme to make it frightening, mysterious, or delightfully spooky.

However, there will be a twist revealed at the start of the jam that will shape how you need to approach your spooky creation!

About Bezi

Bezi is a development assistant that integrates directly into Unity, intelligently indexing your entire project - assets, scenes, packages, scripts, and components - to provide context-aware assistance. Whether you're debugging complex scene-level issues, generating custom shaders, creating editor tools, or prototyping new mechanics, Bezi understands your specific project structure and coding style to deliver targeted solutions that go far beyond what traditional IDEs can offer. You can download and use Bezi here, or visit our itch.io page.

Twist

In shadows deep and moonlight pale,
The Bezi ghost must tell its tale.
In every game, this spirit dwells,
Cast your creative Halloween spells!

All games must incorporate the Bezi ghost somewhere in their design (either 2D or 3D)! Whether you make it your main character, a mysterious NPC, a haunting background presence, or something completely unexpected - the choice is yours. Creativity is key, as Creative Use of Bezi Ghost becomes an official voting criteria for this jam. Show us how inventive you can be!

You'll need to create your own interpretation of the Bezi ghost (or use the provided JPG/PNG on our Discord server). Creativity and effort will be rewarded in the exclusive voting criteria.

Join our Discord

Join our Discord community to connect with fellow developers, find potential teammates, and share your progress throughout the jam. We'll be dropping weekly hints about the special twist in #jam-chat, so stay tuned! For general help and questions, our community is always ready to assist. If you have specific feedback about Bezi itself, please share it in the #bezi-feedback channel.

Prizes

All winners receive cash prizes and a month of Bezi for free. Winners are determined by Community Voting for places 1-3, with the Best Devlog chosen by the Bezi team.

1st Place $150
2nd Place $100
3rd Place $50
Best Devlog $50

About The Devlog Prize

We're looking for developers who can tell a compelling story about their jam experience with Bezi. A great devlog goes beyond just showing your final game - it takes us behind the scenes to see your creative process, problem-solving moments, and how Bezi fit into your workflow.

What Makes a Winning Devlog
Show specific examples of how you used Bezi (screenshots of conversations, before/after code, etc.)
Share both successes and challenges - we learn from honest feedback about what worked and what didn't
Include your creative problem-solving process and any "aha!" moments
Document your development journey with visuals, GIFs, or videos when possible
Reflect on how Bezi changed (or didn't change) your typical workflow

Devlog Submission

Create a post in our Discord #bezi-showcase channel anytime during the jam period. Focus on finishing your game first - you can add your devlog in the comments of your post during the voting period when you have more time to reflect on your development journey. Screenshots, videos, or GIFs are great additions to help tell your story!

Rules & Requirements

Development Requirements

  • You must use Unity. Other programs, such as Blender or Photoshop, are also allowed.
  • You must use Bezi. Although using Bezi is a requirement, there is no usage quota. Just try it out!

Game Requirements

  • Games must be built for web (WebGL). This ensures everyone can play and rate your game easily without downloads, making voting more accessible and fair for all participants.
  • Games must be built for this jam. This means templates and duplicates of existing games are not considered. Games made for other jams will also NOT be considered— if you have an idea that you used for another jam that you think would fit well, you must rebuild it fully for it to be considered.
  • Ideas should be original. Built by you (and Bezi)! You may NOT rip an existing game.
  • The primary game language must be English.
  • Games cannot include offensive, discriminatory, or NSFW content.

Team & Assets

  • Teams are capped at 3 members. Teams are not required.
  • Pre-made assets are allowed. You may use publicly available or purchased assets. Please credit the original creators in your submission.
  • AI usage must be disclosed. If you use AI for anything other than code/scripting, such as art or sound, you MUST disclose it on the submission.

Submission & Rewards

  • Submit by the deadline. No late submissions or editing after submission are allowed.
  • Post in Discord for Best Devlog prize. To be eligible, post in Discord channel #bezi-showcase with your game's itch title and itch page link by the jam deadline. You can add your devlog in the main post or as a comment during the voting period.
  • Include visuals in your story. Screenshots, videos, or GIFs help tell your development story.

Determining Winners & Criteria

Bezi jams are run through community voting, and we use Jamlytics to ensure fair and transparent results. Participants will be able to vote and rate, and will be subject to a rating queue of 5. This means that you will have to rate 5 random submissions before rating other submissions to keep the voting fair.

We expect participants to vote with integrity and take time to properly experience each game. We provide an extended voting period specifically so you don't have to rush through games. Please give each submission the attention it deserves!

Voting Criteria
General Fun: Is the game generally fun to play? Is it challenging while feeling rewarding? Is there a great story?
Art and Visuals: Is the art style unique? Are there visual bugs?
Unique Mechanics: How original is the game? Is it interesting/different/novel to play?
Creative Use of Bezi Ghost: How inventively did the developer incorporate the Bezi ghost into their game?
