Wow, there's so much slick art for such a short game!  I feel like you really loaded it up with a lot of customized art that most VNs would re-use for hours worth of content.  It really does feel like a slice of a much larger game and honestly I would be down with that: the world is intruiging, the characters are good, the popup glossary gets you up to speed, you get to do cool stuff.  And there's puzzles.  And music!

Two things stood out (and I only bring these up since the rest is so good): I'd add some content about what the 'spirits' did that was so harmful; you're told that but the player should have some reason to believe (and later, understand why other people still believe) the spirits are bad news.  The other thing was that the Archbishop's heel turn comes off as a little easy, he becomes a sneering villain really quickly.  He's a good bad guy, but he should be trying to convince you that even if what you've learned is true, progress is still worth it.  Or something similar... something that makes me think he's still a person underneath and not a cardboard cutout.

Please tell me you're making an expanded version!

Thank you so much TwoBirds! Our team had a lot of fun trying to customize the visuals in the engine, so the player could really enjoy a specific atmosphere, so glad you liked it!

Hard agree on the Bishop, he definitely needed more development time so his Heel Turn comes across more 3-Dimensional. Also agree on the Spirit Lore in the human world needing to be more fleshed out so the player can also empathize with the people who have lived believing the lie their whole lives. Ultimately our team created a very special game to us, but we also made it quite ambitious in the span of time we had available for the game jam! Hahaha.

Luckily that puts us in a good position if we ever return to expand the game! (Right now we're working with a larger group of friends on a longer, more full-length horror VN.)

Really glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for playing and leaving such a thoughtful note <3

Thank you so much for the heartfelt comment! It meant a lot to us and wanted to come back and reply as well ~

I am very happy that you enjoyed the game so much, I think your comments are valid and a bit of the rushed feeling on those plot points was probably because we tried to  get in too much of a story in a short jam hahaha
I am glad the work we put in functioned and it gave an intriguing and immersing feeling! We planned the world very deliberately but the puzzles were a last second addition

Also, as mentioned no expanded version is in the works, but we are making a larger project with a bigger team! (No ETA yet, but I will make sure to drop it around!)

Once again, super glad you had a great time!
