As a massive fan of your work, I was very disappointed by this. After recording the game, I truly felt bad and deleted the entire video - not a good game.
To start with, I was truly excited about this. After "Alone At Home" and "Someone's Outside", both remarkable and solid horror games, I expected something similar.
The game's main issue lies within the dragged out sequences. The overall gameplay time is around 30-40 minutes, but most of that time is just waiting for the trick and treaters and hanging out in the game while nothing happens. Instead of having a more compact, tense atmosphere, this truly feels like a snooze and until we get to the "main part" of the story, it just feels - off. Not to mention, the main revelation is literally unseen - because you can't see anything.
The second part of the game is dark and I mean really, really, really dark. I was lost for 5 minutes, with my PC brightness all the way up looking for pixels and light source. Why would you not give a light source to the character? The whole "finale" sequence - I felt nothing, no scares, not anything, because I couldn't see anything besides the shadow of my bed.
Overall, it really pains me to write this, because I've been a fan of your games and I've played/showcased/supported them. Hopefully, this is just one bad day at the office and maybe with an update things can improve.
P.S.
Additional issues - the box of candy jitters when you pick it up and if you press the bowl the infinite number of candy appears and it doesn't stop. I also got stuck when I opened the door and closed it while being on the porch, outside, but it fixed itself.
