I hate gender customizable games, each gender has a way the characters would talk to them or specific small details tailored to their gender , according to our day to day, not all males and females get the same treatment nor think the same way, it feels so shallow. This guy wanted DH to do that, I'm glad Lamb doesn't lol.
Exactly lol, two years later and I still have a laugh at the entitlement of that commenter and feel the exact same as I did before. (People are getting more and more entitled and expect the world to cater to them, so not surprised!) What they asked for isn't a little tiny change, and it's clear they never spent any time developing anything in their life or even at least thinking of the effort it'd take to implement customizable settings.
But it isn't even about that, b/c I completely agree with you that people interact differently in the world. To make a customizable/insert character makes the character feel so souless b/c you have to keep them neutral. Can be great for playable RPG games, horrible for story games when your main character's depth and lore are important to the story. I am so glad that there are still artists that make what they make without trying to appeal to every single person. It has been proven and shown time and time again in art -- especially games -- that when you try to appeal to everyone and not offend anyone, it truly waters down the entire experience.
It's something I'm passionate about b/c I work in the arts and tech myself. Things just aren't the same b/c everything is trying to be 'general audience' and/or 'child friendly'. Art has gotten worse from it. It's just a fact that people are getting tired of it. Look at the reactions to AAA games nowadays; they keep playing it safe, trying to appeal to all and not taking creative risks...people are tired of it. It's why indie game devs are getting more attention, b/c the art is coming over the catering.
