This was an interesting experience. I enjoyed playing this game and I can see a good foundation for something interesting here! I love how you introduce the main mechanic by kinda scripting the events at the start by giving player only 1 health and forcing him to die. This tutorial section is actually really well done and is a good starting point for the player to learn how the gameloop works. Also love the little "Hold on" moment when you're first getting more health. Really nice humorous touch and cleverly implemented to tell the player he now has more health! However, I felt like the game wasn't scaling in difficulty throughout my playthrough. I suggest later on to add more enemy variety or even add traps and other hazardous things that can kill the player. Than you can also add more "attacks" depending on the way the player died and so on so on... There are a lot of possibilities with this concept and that's why it's a good one! It's iterable!

The idea is really creative and it's really well integrated into the theme of the game. Using the way you died as a weapon for your enemies sounds and is badass! It fits perfectly with the jam's theme as well so great job on that!

There's only so much you can do as a solo dev and there are things that could be improved visually. HOWEVER, the graphics have an identity here. They almost remind me of those old flash games! It's somehow nostalgic and it's quite charming. But the game could use some more visual feedback like camera shake or a flash whenever the player gets hurt or more VFX whenever you hit an enemy or they hit you. Also I don't know if I missed it but it seemed like I couldn't see my own projectiles. The UI could use some improvements as well like the highlighted card could be clearer. Right now the highlighting is very soft and sometimes it's hard to notice. Some backgrounds from the UI could use some more stylization instead of being straight up squares and rectangles (our game suffers from the same since we didn't have time to implement graphics in the UI ahah). But again, its really impressive you could still do all these by yourself! The fact that you could finish a game, do all the art and even program by yourself in just 4 days... That's insane! So the feedback I'm giving is purely for future improvement and nothing to be seen as "negative"!

Overall, you have an enjoyable game here with an excelent idea and theme to use as a basis for something even better. It may lack some variety and some visual feedback but the fun gameplay and extremely creative idea make up for it. Also congratulations on your first game! Making your first game with just 8 months of experience and in a game jam? Now that's a challenge! And it's actually impressive what you could build here ALONE in just 4/5 days. Impressive work, really! Again, don't see the above critics as negative things but as ideas and improvements for future versions! You did a wonderful job, congrats!

Oh my God, thank you so so much for the feedback and kind words. I agree strongly with your suggestions! It's so nice to have all that crunch time appreciated :) I had to deal with corruption issues hours before the deadline after 20 straight hours of design and programming haha.

I appreciate it so much!

I am inspired by many games that are capable of telling the player so much info without offloading tons of text or exposition. I wouldn't say I am there yet but it's always on my mind how best to convey what's needed with as little friction as possible.

I'm going to save your comment for when I'm having a tough day programming :) and it will help me smile, thank you again! <3
