Detritus is amazing. The story's themes and choices are powerful, it has a great "Prey 2017" gameplay loop, and its gameplay and story are held together so tightly.
The effort you put in to take care of the player (slowly adding features, fast travel) is very appreciated.
I played it at complete random from the IFComp entries just based on the theme, non-parser interface, cover art, and play time. I don't even play IF games. I just had a weird bug to check out the format again.
Like, I was hoping for an interesting experience when I chose it. I was not expecting the most memorable story and game I've played this year.
Thank you!
