The setting of the prostitute female lead is problematic. I was fully engaged in the game at first, but then this plot twist suddenly came up—it’s really disgusting for players like me who can’t accept it. What’s more, the MC told her not to do this kind of job and offered to help her find a new one, yet the next day he ran into her accompanying a client. Isn’t that awkward? You say you don’t want the game to become a "virgin collection" game, but in my opinion, there’s a world of difference between a non-virgin female lead and a prostitute female lead. Currently, Chika’s reason for being a prostitute is completely unconvincing, and I expect the plot to get even more tragic later on—tragic purely for the sake of being tragic, all just to explain why she became a prostitute. Reality is uncontrollable, but games are controllable. I’m here to play a game, not to listen to your preaching, nor to watch you promote your own values. Other than this, it’s really a good work, but I personally can’t accept it. Goodbye.
Her reasons for being a prostitute are all too real.... women needing money, for whatever reason (usually addiction) or to earn money for another party they feel compelled to support or are trapped in supporting (usually a man..usually a partner, but no uncommonly a father or brother), is all too real of a scenario.
It was handled reasonably deftly, though the idea of the MC going full instant White Knight, is pretty cliche, and the damage Chika displays is seems to be WAY less than is likely.. though not as bad as it becomes as when such women deny it, move past it, and embrace and accept what they do as if they the same as women who have have options, but choose that life (and YES, THERE ARE women like that).
If you cannot accept it, and feel so strongly about it... I suspect it is because you liked Chika, she is a character you felt appreciation for, or even connection to, and then the revelation betrayed that.
In that case, YOU are exactly the kind of Fair Weather Friend, the kind of judgemental fickle person, which she speaks about, which has left her so Jaded. That is ON YOU. Not the Dev.
If you cannot accept that is who she is, and refuse to play more, then you are also someone who would like abandon her if she was a real girl you met and initially liked, irl. That say a whole lot more about YOU than the Dev.
TBH, I strongly suspect you are not even someone old enough to be playing this game, given the sheltered, simplistic nature of your comment.
That is not what I am saying... I am saying that such a emotional response to game characters, or any fictional character, normally comes about because you clicked with them, got somehow invested in them... then, learnt something about them you did not like.
It depends on what you want from them, and how you react, and what you do, though, in relation to what they turn out to be, and if you give up on someone or not.
If you learnt they murdered an entire preschool, that is understandable.
If you learn they are a prostitute, that is kind of sad to see. It means you are a shallow and judgemental person. No one is saying you have to still be interested in hooker, if you are romantically interested initially and find out they're a hooker... but a reaction like the initial post, going on a rant, declaring how unacceptable it is she is one, and how you will not engage the game again, man, that is weak.
It makes implications of what you think of people irl. If this is the reaction, then the OP likely feels that way about prostitutes irl. That's sad. Reeks of the kind of shallow mid 20thC moralizing that most of the world has moved beyond.
It suggests that if such a person were, irl, to be attracted to a woman, and initially romantically interested, and it was reciprocated, but they found out she was a prostitute, they'd not explain that sadly, this is something which is a red line for them, be understanding, acknowledge that they are person, a woman, who deserves love, but alas, not from you.... but would rather just short out, and become hysterical and abusive, probably get crazy on them with accusations they mislead you, lied to you, blah blah, and just be a terrible person.
The Dev should definitely NOT listen to the complaints of such a person.
Just my opinion, sorry if that upsets you.
I don't disagree that many comments go too far, my point was simply that not being involved with a hooker is not the same as abandoning them. If you like someone and then reject them because you find out they're a prostitute, that is perfectly valid and not the same as you being judgemental of them.
I think we're talking at cross purposes.
A) The MC initially first and foremost wants to be a Friend, not a Lover, to Chika.... but the OP's reaction demonstrates their view of what they want the MC to do... and because they cannot they will not play. That is NOT romantic... that is just interpersonal relationships... and if you meet someone you like, think good things of, and try to be a friend to and support for, and then you cease because they're a hooker... that's pretty petty, low in fact.
B) No one can say not wanting to continue with a romantic relationship with someone who IS, it turns out, a hooker... is wrong. We all have Red Lines.... BUT... even then, it comes down to HOW. You can be sympathetic, understanding, gentle, and kind, even if you have to be firm on the NO. Or you can be a C U Next Tuesday. The OP's reaction definitely makes me think they'd be the latter.
Either way, in either case, this is WAY UNCOOL, and the problem of the person, not their hooker once friend.
This is a romantic harem game. I don't have any special feelings for her—just because she's one of the dateable harem heroines, and I don't like this kind of content. Everyone has their own preferences. I'm just here to play the game, and the most important thing about gaming is to have fun. This content is shit! If this game had been labeled or stated in advance that it contains such content, I wouldn't even have touched it. It's just a game—how can you overthink it so much? Following your logic, would the developers who make games with gory, violent, and extreme content, or the players who play such games, all be psychopathic murderers? Stop throwing around random labels. I'm just a gamer.
And the plot is shit too! Chika is still doing this kind of job. The MC advises her to quit and helps her find a new one. If the later plot really has him find a new job for her to do, then why did she become a prostitute in the first place? The plot says she took this job because it's quick and easy money—what job is quicker and easier than being a prostitute? If she had that kind of ability, she wouldn't have become a prostitute. Isn't the reason she's a prostitute just for money? They might as well set the MC as a rich second-generation who directly keeps her. Why even create all those tragic plots just to explain why she's a prostitute, and then have the MC "redeem" her? You've probably watched too many Japanese anime—so funny!
Triggered much?
What nonsense are you talking about with violent video games? I made no assertions about the developers of this game, and therefore, you cannot draw any conclusions about what I think about any Devs of ANY game. Your logic is doing contortions here.
Your naivety is also rather acute. Someone tells a Prostitute to NOT be one, and promises them they'll find them another job... and so that sex worker is then what, just meant to take that at face value, pin all their hopes, not to mention their ability to survive on that person and just quit? Even in a video game, that would BEYOND UNREALISTIC.
It is also entitled AF to think that someone should not have a certain story arcs, or types of characters in a game, and just turn them in something else, because YOU think redemption arcs are pointless. What a princess. Boohoo.
Also, you are judgemental as hell girl. Prostitutes EXIST, they are REAL, and they ARE REAL PEOPLE. You talking about them like they are MONSTERS or ALIENS, is a SCATHING INDICTMENT upon your heart, that is for sure.
Someone as sheltered, naive, and unworldly as you, a person who needs a trigger warning that their is prostitution in a SEX GAME DESIGNED AND LABELLED AS SUCH, MADE FOR ADULTS, probably SHOULD NOT be playing such games.
I mean, there is blackmail, bullying, even (implied, pseudo) incest themes, in this one, and the hill you are going to die on, due to your own fragility, is THIS?
The Dev owes you NOTHING for this FREE game.
Kate? Nah. More like KAREN. Take a walk.
